Homebrew Monster: Elder Treant

        Elder Treants are the survivors of ages past and not only protect their forests but the forests of all treants. They use their power to travel long distances to protect the forests that have come to find themselves in danger.

        1000 Ringed Tree: A treant can become an Elder Treant after it gains its 1000th tree ring. This means that on its 1000th birthday a treant gains that capacity to become an Elder Treant. Many treants are lost before this time while protecting the forests. Those that make it have survived many hardships and have a deeper understanding. of the forests the treants protect.

        Elder Ceremony: While a treant needs to be 1000 to become an Elder Treant they must also go through a ceremony to complete their transformation to a higher guardian of the forest. This ceremony entails a journey to another forest to awaken a treant of the next generation, traveling to a place of fire to overcome the treant’s aversion to it, and finally return to their place of birth to reconnect to nature.

Notes

        Here are some tips for roleplaying this creature as a npc and also some tips for the creature in combat.

  • Roleplay
    • Remember that this creature is at the bare minimum 1000 years old.
    • The Elder Treant is going to be more well-traveled than a normal treant, who has most likely never left their forest. An Elder Treant will have traveled the world to protect all kinds of forests.
  • Combat
    •  Since the Elder Treant is so old they are most likely well versed in tactics.
    •  Understand that the Elder Treant will almost always hit. This is because of how high its Strength is, which causes it to have a +14 to hit. This may be too high but for now that is what it is.
    • Tree Stride can be used offensively or defensively.
      • Since the majority of fights with the Elder Treant are going to take place in a forest the Treant can use it to get to an opponent that it couldn’t normally reach.
      • If the Elder Treant is in danger of dying this ability can be used as a perfect escape. This is because the Treant can go to any forest on the same plane protected by a treant. This means that they could teleport to the other side of the planet.
      • Remember it can only be used once a day.
