Arachni: Humanoid Spiders

I introduced the Arachni two days ago, now you get some extra lore. This is taking a deeper look into the race and how to live and their history. Hope you like that because that’s what’s going to be the Wednesday Specials for October. By the end of this you will be drowning in the lore of the Arachni and its three most prominent tribes.

Swarm Living

While under the control of the Queen of Swarm, the Arachni were always on the battlefields. The Queen of Swarm had made her goal to make the land, seas, and skies a part of her hive and this required fighting the people that already called those places their home. As soldiers of her armies and unable to resist her mind control, the Arachni spend their days fighting and dying for the conquest of their queen.

The Arachni were the elite foot soldiers of the Swarm and therefore were required across all battlefields. Not being specialized caused them to be able to be placed at any and all battles that they could fight on, mainly that land battle though they could be seen in the navy of the Swarm as well. Do the hivemind nature of the Swarm, rest and leisure were not a part of the Arachni’s life. They would always be fighting, eating, or training. If they were lucky their training could result in them being chosen to become an Arachni warrior, a stronger Arachni only found within the Swarm. The technique that the Queen of Swarm used to create these Arachni warriors has been lost with her death and therefore the Arachni are unable to become these warriors anymore.

Exodus

After having escaped the hold that the Queen of Swarm had on them, the Arachni went out into the world. Beyond the conquered lands of the Swarm and beyond the angered kingdoms harmed by the Swarm, the Arachni settled into, mainly, the forests of the world. While the forests are the most common place the Arachni settled they can be found wherever spiders could be found.

The Arachni than took the time to find themselves in this world new to them. They explored their new homesteads and figured out what living looked like without the effects of the Queen of Swarm’s mind control. This for many meant learning to hunt, live with their new allies/pets, and eventually new ways of combat based on the spider of the tribe. The hunting methods of each tribe reflected the types of spiders that their tribe was allied with.

Eventually, though, their time alone came to an end. The kingdoms of man and others spread and came into the lands of the Arachni. With the hate of times past mostly gone the Arachni’s lands and boarders are respected by the governments, although some people think negatively about sharing land with such monstruous creatures.

Allies & Pets

The tribes of the Arachni have, for the most part, based themselves around the species of spider that they have allied themselves with. Depending on the species these spiders are the equal comrades or the pets of the Arachni. This symbiotic relationship is something that many have found odd. While the connection to spiders is apparent in the looks and biology of the Arachni, basing much of your lifestyle around a creature that many other species see as lesser is found weird, at the very least. Despite this believe held by some, the Arachni carry on with their lifes.

The Arachni made allies of all types of spiders, from the ones found in the largest tribes (Giant Spider, Giant Wolf Spider, and Red Glass Spider), to some rarer species (like the Phase Spider). Other tribes made friends of the many smaller spiders; despite their lack of strength, they make up for it with their numbers. All tribes though, live with these spiders as a part of their daily life and make deep connections with allies of their tribes.
